Programme Overview

The two-day programme would target prison administrators from Asian countries.

The nominated participants should be of Senior Management level.

• Participants among Senior Officers if the Correctional Service as administrators (Management, Rehabilitation, Parole, Probation)
• Nominated by their respective Departments/Goverments
• Proficient in English Language (Written and Spoken)

 

Programme Objective

• Strengthen regional cooperation in the field of corrections
• A platform to discuss issues on the transformation of prison system in line with the current situation and global need. This will able to identify the root cause of the probelm and joint solutions in terms of inmate/detainee management, especially in aspects of security, rehabilitation, treatment, community rehabilitation, alternative punishment, and documentation of imprisonment and inmate profiling
• A platform to share the best practices between the countries.
• Effort in finding the best method of correction in line with the changes if time in the digital era.
• The desire to create an ASEAN country environment as a correctional reference centre.

 

Break-Out Session

The concept of the conference is a "Break-Out-Session" - Sharing the best correctional practices among the country involved.

• Do they have any strong views on any particular topic that should be covered at the conference? The agenda is representative of ASEAN MS interests.
• The aim is for them to present on a topic or area of best practice which they are particularly proud of/has been recently reformed or an ongoing challenge they are working on (for example Malaysia intends to present on Probation issues.) They don't have to confirm the exact theme at this stage but it would be good if you could get confirmation that they are - in principle - content to present and a sense of when they would be able to confirm the topic.
